For the edification of joeychen

These are the shoes I was talking about last night.
It's really not so much the fringe on the heel, as that in combination with the ruffles.
And I won't tell [info]pink_adidas but I saw a pair in their new line that had fringe on the heels that I didn't totally hate.
In fact, their fall line seems much more wearable then the spring stuff.

This weekend, Walker and I went to the Laguna Seca race track for the American Les Mans race. Probably a bit too much racing for my first time out, since the racing on Saturday went on until 7pm, and we got there a little before 9am, but it was fun anyway. And I brought my Gameboy, so when I was all raced out I went farming instead.
My favorite part was on Sunday, when Walker's mechanic (the man storing his race car for him) and his team raced. Especially since both Galen (mechanic) and Bob (Owner) crashed before the end of the race. Bob managed to crash right before what ended up being the last lap of the race. The safety car was out for a good 2/3 of the laps. Funny funny racing.
On Friday we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and communed with the penguins and jellyfish, rather then watch practices all day. They have a large jellyfish exhibit right now, which was really nifty, but I think they got a bad deal on Moon jellyfish, since there were about 5 different tanks full of them in different parts of the aquariums. I wonder if they bred faster then expected.
We got memberships, so we have to go back at least twice more. We will definitely be going back for the Meet the Penguins event.
Now I have a lot of errands to run. Must make list.

For Tillie

There is a glaze recipe with this, but it's too sweet for me, what with being half corn syrup.
I'm going to figure out some other way to top it.

Flourless Chocolate Cake

12 oz bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped
3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into pieces
6 large eggs, separated
12 T sugar
2 t vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350F. Butter sides of 9" diameter springform pan. Line bottom of pan with parchment paper or wax paper; butter paper. Wrap outside of pan with foil. Stir chocolate and butter in heavy medium saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Cool to lukewarm, stirring often.
Using electric mixer, beat egg yolks and 6 T sugar in large bowl until mixture is very think and pale, about 3 minutes. Fold lukewarm chocolate mixture into yolk mixture, then fold in vanilla extract. Using clean, dry beaters, beat egg whites in another large bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add remaining 6 T sugar, beating until medium peaks form. Fold whites into chocolate mixture in 3 additions. Poor batter into prepared pan.
Bake cake until top is puffed and cracked and tester inserted into center comes out with some moist crumbs attached (usually looks like thin layer of cake mix, not crumbs), about 50 minutes. cool cake in pan on rack (cake will fall).
Gently press down crusty top to make evenly thick cake. using small knife, cut around pan sides to loosen cake. Remove pan sides. Place 9" diameter tart pan bottom or cardboard round atop cake. invert cake onto tart pan bottom. Peel off parchment paper.

So, I accidentally posted something here in my journal instead of in [info]freakfitness. Tres embarrassment.
Mostly because I showed my entire family (aunts, parents, grandparents) my livejournal before I left and now they are all reading it.
Hence the deletion of the post.

I need to get a new domain name, and I'm really not pleased with Dotster, the place where I got my old domain.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a good domain service?

You know you are old...

I found this CD-Rom in the antique listings at shopgoodwill.com.
Remember the good old days when we put things on CD-Roms?
*shakes head*
The game itself isn't even that old.

We Love Katamari

[info]metaltweety made it is his personal weekend goal to buy the new Katamari game.
To my intense amusement, [info]babysuehle makes a surprise appearance.

The game is much easier to finish, Walker did it all yesterday, in about 3 hours. On the other hand, you are more strongly encouraged to replay levels. And the whole game is so much more amusing and weird.
