Finally revealed pics!

Sika finally had time to get the pictures of our costumes from last Norwescon off her memory card. FU, grad school!
Chinoiserie gypsies
The theme was Chinoiserie Gypsies, inspired by a fabulous skirt we saw at con one year. Sadly we were all rushing a little, so these costume will probably not reappear at con very often. Mine was comfy, and I really liked my shirt, and I have plenty of leftover brocade, so I may remake this later. The big problem is that we didn't really look as much like a group as we have in the past. We have some theories, like the preponderance of black, and all the color mixing.
Costumed babies
The cutest part, was of course, the matching babies.
Bum
We didn't get a good picture of Davis' pants on him. I used Rae's big butt baby pants.
Smiles
Poor thing kept getting over heated, so he was a barbarian baby for most of the day. So cute.

This year's plans are for 18th century clown costumes, AKA Harlequinade. Here is the Pinterest board I created to keep track of the idea: http://pinterest.com/maergid/harlequinade/

KCWC wrap up

I did manage to sew all but one day last week, which I was surprised by. I finished three of my 3 projects, started another, and cut the pattern out for another. I'm just going to talk about my finishes, since I have no process photos this year.

The first finish was the purple velvet dress. New trim is attached, but when she tried it on today, the neck hole is too small for her head now, so I will make a little slit and add a button. Maybe even tonight.

Aurora dress
The other two finishes are the princess dresses with the pattern I made. This one is Aurora. If I was going to do it again, I'd make the white thing around the neck bigger, but she doesn't care.

Ariel dress
This one is Ariel. I think no one is going to recognize it, because who on earth remembers the pink dress she wore to get married in? I need to add some elastic under the puffs so they stand up better, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it.

That's all. I'm looking forward to the spring one. It's good to force myself into the sewing room occasionally.

Sew baby sew!

Kids clothing week is coming up, and I'm going to try, once more, to participate. These always come at the worst times for me; the week of my birthday, when we are moving, or the week of Walker's birthday, which makes the perfectly reasonable goal of 1 hour a week of sewing, hard for me.
But I have a bunch of sewing to do, including some hand sewing I could do in the evenings, so I'm giving it a go. Here are the things I might work on.
2 more princess dresse (Aurora and Ariel) inspired by these dresses seen on Pinterest. I'm going to attempt to put long sleeves on these for fall wearing (also, accuracy!). Here's a picture the Belle dress from the same pattern I already finished.
I'm a monkey
Attach new trim to the purple dress I made two years ago that still fits her. She wants to wear it to the wedding in November, but the sparkles had started falling off.
Get started on her Wind Girl! costume for Halloween.
Make a pair of these for Davis.

Wish me luck!
