It seems like it's time to talk about our oldest for a bit. She's been changing and learning so much lately.
The most obvious thing is that for at least a month she has been asking to be called "Cinderella." She gets very upset when her friends won't call her that, or when a stranger asks me what her "real" name is. She's been insisting long enough that I feel like I should really try and honor it, even when she doesn't remember. It is hard to suddenly switch after 4 years of calling her something else, but I've done it for friends before. If you see her, please try and remember her new nickname.
She is more insistent on wanting to wear dresses or skirts all the time, but at the same time, she's a little more willing to comply when we are going somewhere where pants are more appropriate. If she does wear pants somewhere, they come off the second we come in the door. Regardless of what she wear, she is changing clothes at least 3 times a day right now.
Princesses are still an obsession, but it seems like my propaganda attempts are working though, as the last time we were at the library she chose Princess Grace, which is about a princess obsessed girl who decides at the end she wants to be a princess who does things, and The Serpent Slayer, which has a picture of a princess fighting a dragon on the cover.
She has recently started to pretend she's a super hero, thanks to Word Girl. She has great fun running around pretending to fly. She is VERY upset that I can't give her real magic, so she could really fly when she says "Word UP!" She would also like to be able to transform into Tinkerbell at will.
That she can't is the latest in a series of harsh realities she has recently learned. Like that if you pull off your wristband, you can't go on more rides.
She is suddenly much less shy. She will still hide if you try and talk to her directly, unless you ask her a question about Davis, she is always happy to tell you about her brother. In the last few weeks she happily went to 4 days of all day camp at the zoo (and keeps asking when she can do another camp), handed out candy in a parade, and started ballet class 3 weeks late, all without hesitation.
She has a special lullaby she sings to Davis that she made up herself. It is one of the few things that will stop him crying in the car on the rare occasions he gets upset. It is so sweet, it makes me cry.

I am aiming to make my wardrobe more ridiculous and colorful, so I made this skirt out of scraps of knit and old t-shirts, loosely following this tutorial. The base I used is the bottom half of a dress I made awhile ago that wasn't flattering.
This makes me happy. I can't wait to wear it again.
