Help please

I have two weddings to attend this fall. One is in September in Seattle and, (I think) semi formal. The second is in October in LA and looks to be formal. This one is a catholic ceremony, so I can't wear my normal kind of low cut, sleeveless dress. I would like to make one outfit I can wear to both, with a jacket I can take to the church, so that I can be covered, but not wear to the September wedding, where it's bound to be hot.
Here are the options I have come up with so far.
Option 1:
This, with the non ruffly jacket, and one floor length ruffle instead of the three, with a separate top to wear under the jacket. I like this top a lot, but I'm not sure it would work with the skirt: I could fairly easily join the top and skirt to make it into a dress, which I would probably be more comfortable in.

Option 2:
This dress and this coat . Again, I'm not sure those go together, but I think they would be fine in the right fabrics.

Optional:
I think I want to buy these two patterns,http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V2714.htm?tab=evening_bridal_includes_designer&page=7, http://www.voguepatterns.com/item/V2971.htm?tab=designer_sportswear_br_suits_coats_jackets&page=1 but [info]firesika thinks I'm crazy.
